Conclusive & Inconclusive Results

Since siblingship testing is a second degree relationship and could require additional samples to obtain a conclusive result. Usually the mother  is STRONGLY recommended for all relationship tests to improve the statistics and limit the possibility of additional testing.

Conclusive - Results that fall in the ranges of 0.00-9.99% or 90-99.99% provide enough statistical evidence to confidently report the results as excluded or cannot be excluded.

Inconclusive - Results that fall 10-89.99% do not provide enough statistical evidence to confidently report the results as excluded or cannot be excluded. At this time your results will recommend providing additional participants. This will help drive the results towards conclusive results.

    Need help understanding results?

Here it is a quick formula to better help donors to understand siblinship results:

0.00-9.99% is on the unrelated end. Meaning there are no relationship between the parties.

10%-89.9% is inconclusive and additional parties are required. Meaning that on a legal matter, that  the laboratory most likely needs one of the parent to be tested in order to have a higher probability to determine relation.

90.0-99.99% is on the related end. Meaning parties definitely share DNA.

FAQS

What a Sibling DNA test determines?

A Sibling DNA test is intended  to determine the possibility and likelihood of two or more individuals being full siblings, half siblings or sharing no biological relationship

Full siblings have two biological parents in common, half siblings have only one parent in common (either the mother or the father).

What is the difference between the Legal Test and the informational only?

A legal test is court admissible. The identity of each individual tested is verified and the chain of custody is tracked. A third party performs the collection. Results are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Informational or private test is for your own peace of mind and is not court admissible. An informational test can be collected by our professional collectors or even yourself with a home kit.

Can I use my testing results in court or benefits?

Only Legal test results can be used in court.

Are the results confidential?

Yes, results are only accessed through the communication channels indicated on the sample collection forms.

What will happen on my sample collection appointment?

Participants will fill out paperwork, pay for the test, a trained collector will take pictures, make copies of identification documents (only for legal cases), non legal or informational cases does not required copy of identification, but a release from the mother to collect the child samples, a buccal swab from each individual will be collected and place in separate envelopes and sealed at the presence of the donor(s).

What should I bring to the appointment?

Legal cases, Participants are required to bring photo identification for adults, and birth certificate, social security card, or immunization records for minors. A Parent or legal Legal Guardian must be present for any collection involving a minor. For non Legal cases/informational, no proof of identification is required, but it's recommended for the mother or legal guardian to be available to sign a simple authorization to collect and test the sample of the minor, but if the name of the father is listed on the child's birth certificate no authorization or the presence of the mother is required.

Is there any difference between Buccal Swab & Blood Paternity and Family DNA final result?

Both methods of DNA collection will provide the same accurate final results, Buccal swabs are nowadays the most preferred way to collect a DNA specimen, specially with small young babies and kids, the process is quick and painless.

How can parties be tested in different cities?

Our office can setup appointments throughout our network and find the closest  location to you in the US territory. With our service parties samples can be collected in different cities with the peace of mind of professional facilities and staff.

What does 'Chain of custody mean'?
